I am the Project Manager at vivitide, responsible for managing some of our most complex customer projects. My time is spent planning, organizing, directing, and communicating a lot of information quickly! My goal is to provide top-notch service to our clients. My vast experiences in different departments within the company enable me to be very effective in my job.
I started with the company 21 years ago, hired right out of college and placed in the lab. There were only 7 or 8 of us to start. I worked in many aspects of the company. I started in the Purification Analysis Final Data Lab, then Quality Control, Shipping, Sales, Final Formulation, Customer Service, Amino Acid Analysis, Production Coordinator, Account Manager, and now Project Management. As the company grew, I grew with the company. I do feel like vivitide is my 2nd family.
What is project management’s goal?
Our project management approach is designed to ensure an outstanding customer experience when they come to us. This includes providing the customer with a single point of contact, ensure proactive communication and support with proven technical expertise. Every customer is different and their expectations vary even from project to project. Our goal is to manage the expectations of the customers and ensure that we deliver what we promised. It’s my responsibility to keep projects moving forward, define milestones that help identify issues early on and bring the right people together to provide solutions.
How does project management impact complex projects?
Nothing is guaranteed in a complex custom project, which makes project managers a vital contributor to the success of these projects. As the project manager, it's my job to keep the big picture in mind, which includes managing the risks associated with the uncertainty and develop a plan that can meet customers' requirements. I know the capabilities of our labs and I know the data, if there is an issue, we can address it right away. As project managers, we wear many hats and help our customers to the best of our ability. Customers are appreciative of having a direct point person in project management with deep technical know-how.
What is the highlight of your job?
Understanding the customers' project and working with our teams on helping to communicate our solutions is probably the most rewarding aspect. A highlight is on calls, I get to hear how well the company is doing. vivitide surpasses a lot of competitors out there because of our client to employee relationships. The fact that they trust vivitide as much as they do - that is a good day for me.
What do you do when you are not helping customers?
NEP/vivitide has given me the flexibility to raise my family and have a career. I have 3 kids, ages 8, 12, 13 we are busy, I am taxiing them to sports and other activities. My family is outdoorsy and we spend a lot of time snowmobiling, skiing, hiking, swimming, and driving ATV’s.
