Description: Lysostaphin Recombinant produced in E.Coli is a non-glycosylated polypeptide chain having a molecular mass of 26.92 kDa.

Protein Derived From: Escherichia Coli.

Physical Appearance: Sterile Filtered lyophilized powder.

Purity: 97% as determined by RP-HPLC.

Stability: Lyophilized Lysostaphin although stable at room temperature for 2 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18C. Upon reconstitution Lysostaphin can be stored at 4C up to 3 weeks and for future use below -18C.Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

Biological Activity: Assessed by the decrease in turbidity of a suspension of heat-killed Staphylococcus aureus at pH-8, 30C. Lysostaphin is a zinc enzyme therefore EDTA is an inhibitory factor.

Solubility: It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized Lysostaphin in 20mM sodium acetate, pH 4.5 for optimal stability, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions such as 200mM Tris HCL pH-8 for optimal activity.

Specific Activity: Determined to be3,542 units/mg.

Protein content: Protein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods 1. UV spectroscopy at 280 nm using the absorbency value of 2.02 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics). 2. Analysis RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of Lysostaphin as a Reference Standard.
