Introduction SARS Coronavirus is an enveloped virus containing 3 outer structural proteins, namely the membrane (M), envelope (E), and spike (S) proteins. Spike (S)-glycoprotein of the virus interacts with a cellular receptor and mediates membrane fusion to allow viral entry into susceptible target cells. Accordingly, S-protein takes part in virus infection cycle and is the primary target of neutralizing antibodies.

Description SARS Spike produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 219 amino acids (306-515 aa) and having a molecular mass of 24.7kDa.
SARS Spike is fused to a 6 amino acid His tag at C-terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Source Sf9, Baculovirus cells.
